Eastern Alumna Takes Eagle Pride to her Work in China

Lauryn Gallo, a graduate of Eastern’s Bachelor of Science in Linguistics, and Master of Arts in TESOL programs, is entering her third year as an English Language Fellow for the U.S. Department of State, in Wuhan, China. In addition to the rigors of the fellowship program, Lauryn takes time to share her love of Michigan with the people of China.  She serves as a living example of the global reach of an EMU education. We celebrate her success and wish her well as she continues in this prestigious fellowship program.  To read more about how Lauryn is bridging the cultural gap between Southeast Michigan and China, please visit EMU Today.

Melody Werner Re-Appointed to Michigan First Lady Sue Snyder’s Campus Sexual Assault Workgroup

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Melody Werner, Title IX Coordinator, will continue to serve on First Lady Sue Snyder’s Campus Sexual Assault Workgroup.  Working with colleagues from across the state, the work group will be asked to review and provide a framework of best practices for the following:

  • A model to pilot a network of regional investigation centers to review and resolve reports of sexual misconduct on campuses. The work group would be asked to consult with experts who have developed similar models for consideration by other states; and
  • Develop a framework of prevention best practices colleges and universities can implement on campus.

Thank you, Melody, for serving as our representative on this workgroup.
