Nominations for the [email protected] EMU and Dale Rice Academic Service-Learning Awards for Community Engagement and Community Partnership are being accepted through March 27, 2019. Please consider nominating faculty, staff or community organizations who support academic service-learning ad university and community collaboration. Nominations may be submitted online.
This prestigious award is designed to recognize a Faculty or Staff member who has created and implemented the most innovative and rich work being done in Academic Service-Learning (AS-L) and Community Engagement on EMU’s campus. This exemplary work can be in AS-L classes, projects, community connections, trips, presentations, partnerships, etc. This award is in honor of EMU AS-L innovator, Dale Rice.
Awards will be presented to both Faculty and Community Partners for their model partnership in Academic Service-Learning. This award is in honor of the founder of EMU’s Office of AS-L, Dale Rice.
An award given to an individual or an organization dedicated to high levels of collaboration with various areas of the University community.
All faculty planning to participate in commencement must do so in academic dress. For those of you who need to rent regalia, please be sure to place your orders by Saturday, March 16, 2019!

On Monday, March 18, we be closing the Survey on Campus Sexual Misconduct Culture, which is being answered by students randomly selected to represent our diverse campus. The survey aims to gather information on various cultural and contextual factors that should be addressed in our efforts to prevent sexual misconduct among our students and on our campus.
We extend our thanks to faculty for your efforts in promoting student participation in this survey and ask that you consider making one final announcement to your students in advance of the March 18 survey closing date.

Please join us on March 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom for the Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Showcase and strolling reception. This event celebrates our faculty and their recently disseminated research, scholarly and creative activities. Tenured and tenure-track faculty will display posters, books, artwork, videos, etc., that highlight their accomplishments during the 2018 calendar year.
The Global Engagement Council is launching the Global Connect Series with its first event on March 19 at 9:30 a.m. Participants may gather in Halle 109B or attend the event online. The goal of this series is to provide a platform for visiting international faculty to engage with Eastern’s faculty and students and share their research and expertise. This first event in the series involves a web-based panel discussion on "Status of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in India" hosted by Professor Ingita Jain. Interested in leading or teaching a study abroad program? We are accepting proposals until April 1, 2019 for faculty-led programs to be held during the 2020 calendar year. Study Abroad proposals must be approved by your department head and/or dean before submission and must include a budget, daily itinerary and course information. Faculty are invited and encouraged to apply for the 2019-20 Global Learning Seminar (GLS). The focus of the GLS is to work with faculty to develop a global-centered approach to curriculum development and course design. Seminar co-facilitators, Solange Simoes and Shiri Vivek will collaborate with a small group of Eastern faculty during the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 semesters to share teaching and learning strategies that support faculty in their efforts to impart a global perspective into their courses.
