GEC Offers Campus 2 Career Professional Retreat for International Eastern Students

The Global Engagement Council is organizing an off-campus professional development retreat aimed at helping international students learn to successfully adapt to the multi-cultural workplaces in the US and leverage their unique strengths, talents, and skills.

Led by Dr. Diana Wong, Associate Professor of Management, this small group retreat will provide students the opportunity to learn various skills, such as following employment trends, developing professional identity, key workplace behaviors and etiquette, as well as cultural "dos and don’ts." The retreat will be held at Eastern’s Fish Lake facility on April 25 and 26, 2019.  Please consider sharing this information with your students and colleagues. 

Lunch and Learn: Minors on Campus Policy and Procedure

Deadline Extended: Josephine Nevins Keal Professional Development Fellowship for Faculty Women

The Josephine Nevins Keal Professional Development Fellowship for Faculty Women is accepting applications for the upcoming 2019-2020 Academic Year. This fund assists Faculty Women in advancement of professional competence and rank. The fund is distributed by the President's Commission on Women.  The application deadline fund has been extended to April 1, 2019 for professional expenditures dating July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020.  Please forward completed application materials to Kate Mehuron, Chair, Women’s Commission, at [email protected]

Call for Study Abroad Proposals 

Interested in leading or teaching a study abroad program?  We are accepting proposals until April 1, 2019 for faculty-led programs to be held during the 2020 calendar year. Study Abroad proposals must be approved by your department head and/or dean before submission and must include a budget, daily itinerary and course information.  If you need assistance with planning or conceptualizing your program, contact Benita Goldman at [email protected] or visit the Study Abroad website

Last Call for Applications: Global Learning Seminar

Faculty are invited and encouraged to apply for the 2019-20 Global Learning Seminar (GLS). The focus of the GLS is to work with faculty to develop a global-centered approach to curriculum development and course design. Seminar co-facilitators, Solange Simoes and Shiri Vivek will collaborate with a small group of Eastern faculty during the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 semesters to share teaching and learning strategies that support faculty in their efforts to impart a global perspective into their courses. Please take a moment to view the application and consider applying to be part of the GLS.  The deadline for applications is March 29, 2019.
