Voting is open through midnight, March 11 and awards will be presented to the winners at the 2019 Distinguished Contributions Awards Ceremony on March 27.
Thank you to those who have already responded to the call for data regarding student success initiatives on our campus. If you have not yet had the opportunity to do so, please take 10-15 minutes of your time to share with us the existing student success programs and initiatives you oversee. In order for the HLC Student Success Team to make use of this data at the upcoming conference, we ask that you submit your data by March 8, 2019.
Please join us on March 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom for the Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Showcase and strolling reception. This event celebrates our faculty and their recently disseminated research, scholarly and creative activities. Tenured and tenure-track faculty will display posters, books, artwork, videos, etc., that highlight their accomplishments during the 2018 calendar year.
The Global Engagement Council is launching the Global Connect Series with its first event on March 19 at 9:30 a.m. Participants may gather in Halle 109B or attend the event online. The goal of this series is to provide a platform for visiting international faculty to engage with Eastern’s faculty and students and share their research and expertise. This first event in the series involves a web-based panel discussion on "Status of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in India" hosted by Professor Ingita Jain. If you are interested in inviting a visiting faculty for a future workshop in this series or have questions about this event, please contact Shiri Vivek at [email protected].
Interested in leading or teaching a study abroad program? We are accepting proposals until April 1, 2019 for faculty-led programs to be held during the 2020 calendar year. Study Abroad proposals must be approved by your department head and/or dean before submission and must include a budget, daily itinerary and course information. If you need assistance with planning or conceptualizing your program, contact Benita Goldman at [email protected] or visit the Study Abroad website.

Faculty are invited and encouraged to apply for the 2019-20 Global Learning Seminar (GLS). The focus of the GLS is to work with faculty to develop a global-centered approach to curriculum development and course design. Seminar co-facilitators, Solange Simoes and Shiri Vivek will collaborate with a small group of Eastern faculty during the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 semesters to share teaching and learning strategies that support faculty in their efforts to impart a global perspective into their courses. Please take a moment to view the application and consider applying to be part of the GLS. The deadline for applications is March 29, 2019.
Presented by EMU MI-ACE Women's Network, the Distinguished Woman in Higher Education Leadership Award honors women who have provided outstanding leadership to women in their institutions, profession and society. Nominations are due March 8 at 5 p.m.
