Higher Learning Commission Update

I want to express my gratitude to the entire University Community for the hard work and dedication that led to a successful HLC site visit. From the collection of evidence, through the writing of the assurance argument, to the execution of all the logistical details associated with an undertaking of this magnitude, our campus community pulled together and presented an authentic picture of who we are and what we do.

As for the next steps in the process, we expect to receive the peer evaluator’s preliminary report within the next couple of weeks, at which time we will be given the opportunity to correct any factual errors.  After the review period, the report will be submitted to the HLC for consideration.  The official decision of the HLC is expected in the new year.

Digital Divas Dazzle Eastern

Last Friday marked the seventh year of the Digital Divas program which brought 275 middle school girls from Southeast Michigan to Eastern's campus for a day of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) exploration. Digital Divas' goal is to connect young women STEM fields by introducing them to educational pathways that lead to careers in technology. To date, approximately 4,000 girls have participated in this program and have been afforded the opportunity to meet and network with Eastern’s professors and students.

If you’d like to get involved, the Digital Diva high school program is scheduled to take place on Friday April 13, 2018. Registration will begin on January 15, 2018. For more information, visit the Digital Divas website or contact Bia Hamed at [email protected] or 734.487.4683
