Haley Moraniec Named Campus Compact 2017 Newman Civic Fellow

Congratulations to Haley Moraniec, first year MSW graduate student, for being named a 2017 Newman Civic Fellow by the Campus Compact Organization. Haley's efforts during her undergraduate years at EMU in creating the culturally transformative Swoop's Food Pantry, will leave a lasting legacy as it provides food support to students for years to come. The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes and supports community-committed students who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communities throughout the country. The fellowship provides training and resources that nurture students’ assets and passions to help them develop strategies to serve as effective agents of social change in addressing public problems and building equitable communities.

Congratulations to Student Awardees at the Society of Pediatric Psychology Conference!

The annual conference of the Society of Pediatric Psychology highlights top research and practice in the field of pediatric psychology. The following students from EMU attended this conference at the end of March, and were honored for their presentations:

  • Shelby Wilson, 2nd year General Clinical Master's Student: Wilson, S., McLaughlin, A., Morris, N. and Peterson, C. Assessment of Neurocognitive Late Effects, Academic Functioning, and School-Based Services in Childhood Cancer Survivors.
  • Natalie Morris, doctoral student on internship at Marcus Autism Center: Morris, N. et al. Treatment of Severe Food Selectivity in School-Age Children Using Graded Exposure.
  • Rachel Kentor, doctoral student: Kentor, R., McDermiad, L., Perez, M., Ostarello, L., Hoodin, F., Byrd, M., Kullgren, K. and Yanik, G. Assessing Experiential Avoidance in Parents of Children with Cancer: Validation of the Parental Acceptance and Action Questionnaire.
  • Patrick Weaver, doctoral student: Weaver, P. and Peterson, C. Risk Factors Predicting Family Burden and Activity Restriction in Childhood Food Allergy: A Latent Variable Mixture Modeling (LVMM) Approach.

Graduation Fair for Students – April 10 and 11

Please feel free to encourage students who are graduating soon to stop by the Graduation Fair, to be held in the Student Center Lounge area and Campus Bookstore. Representatives from several offices will be there, such as Alumni, Career Services, and Graduate Studies. Students will also be able to purchase regalia for a discount, and will be able to obtain tickets to commencement.
