Eastern Students Work to Support our Community

Engage@EMU operates the Community Work-Study program where undergraduate students can earn their awarded work-study funds and gain experience by working with local community-focused government or non-profit organizations.  In the first two months of the Fall 2017 semester, 23 Eastern students have worked a combined 533 hours for an estimated benefit of $12,862 to 20 local non-profit organizations.  If you know of any community organizations that may benefit from this program, please have them contact Luke Yates at dyates4@emich.edu.

CPR and AED Training Sessions

Now that we have updated our campus map to include AED locations, let’s learn to use them!  Training sessions that cover CPR and AED use are being offered to all campus personnel including student employees and graduate assistants that will be with us for at least one more calendar year from the time of training.  If you have been previously certified in CPR and AED, you should renew your certification every two years.  To register, please send an email to kwilhoff@emich.edu or call 734-487-0794.

Graduation Fair

Tis the season for graduation!  Please remind your students that the Graduation Fair is scheduled for December 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Student Center.  The fair offers a one-stop shop experience for graduates where they may pick up their tickets and regalia, order a class ring, receive discounts on Eastern merchandise, make connections with the alumni association, and win fabulous prizes! Additional information may be found at Eastern’s Student Commencement website.  If you have questions regarding the Graduation Fair, you may direct them to Ann Klaes at ann.klaes@emich.edu or 734-487-2438.

Visit the AMP! Arts and Crafts Fair and find some great gifts for your friends and family while connecting to local artists.  The AMP! Student Organization at Eastern is dedicated to connecting student artists with audiences, venues, and opportunities. AMP! both empowers student artists to move their creative practices into careers and offers opportunities for the entire EMU community to explore their own creative side.  Items for purchase include: canvas paintings, key chains, jewelry, coasters, and much more.
