College Readiness Checklist
Sure, you've registered for classes, but are you really college-ready? Use our helpful checklist to get prepared! Click on each item for details and links to help you complete all the necessary tasks.
Financial Aid
- Have you accepted your awards? Scroll to the bottom of the linked page for instructions
- Submitted your high school transcript after graduation? Most schools allow you to do this through Parchment.com
- Completed Entrance Counseling and signed your Master Promissory Note (MPN) on studentaid.gov? Look for those two items once you've logged in to studentaid.gov
Housing
- Living on campus? Have you signed your housing contract, paid your deposit, selected your meal plan? Get all the details for first year students
- Have you met your roommate? You can send them a direct message in the EMU Engage app (available for Android and Apple)!
Books and supplies
- You can see what books you need using this tool
- It's a good idea to bargain shop or look to ebooks to save some cash; check out the buy/sell chat in the EMU Engage app (available for Android and Apple), or search Amazon or Chegg
Smartphone apps
- Make sure you have set up your smartphone with apps for your Emich Gmail account (including the calendar), Canvas for your courses, and EMU Engage (available for Android and Apple)
- You might also want a group-texting app for staying in touch with friends and family back home; GroupMe and WhatsApp are popular tools right now
Check your eBill
- Don't ignore your ebill; if you need help, ask now!
- Do you owe a balance once your financial aid has disbursed?
- Log into your ebill using your EID (Ex, E01234567) and PIN
- Do you have a plan in place for paying it off? If so, make sure you sign up for the 5-payment, no-fee plan that begins in July
Set up Eagle One card
- You'll need this to access your financial aid refund, use your meal plan, check out library materials, and enter your residence hall. Go to the Eagle One Site.
Bringing a car to campus
- Purchase your parking permit at parkemu.com, and don't forget to register your license plate.
