Costs and Scholarships for International Students

International students attending EMU on an F1 student visa are non-resident students for tuition purposes. Effective Fall 2018, undergraduate students pursuing their first bachelor's degree are eligible for in-state tuition under our new TRUEMU Global Rate. Students applying to EMU under another visa status should contact International Admissions to learn more about their residency status for tuition purposes.

Scholarships

Eastern Michigan University highly values the contributions made by our international students to the greater campus community. To honor these contributions and make an education at EMU more affordable, a number of scholarship opportunities have been developed for international students. These scholarships are awarded automatically at the time of admission to all qualifying students based on their application materials and the grade point average (GPA) from their previous studies. Students holding US citizenship or permanent residency may also complete the free application for student aid (FAFSA) and work with our Office of Financial Aid to obtain additional funding assistance for their studies.
