Futures for Frontliners

Eastern Michigan University recognizes the importance of the "Futures for Frontliners" scholarship for Michiganders who worked in essential industries from April-June 2020. This state-funded scholarship provides these students with tuition-free access to Michigan community colleges.

Eastern Michigan University is proud to offer an additional scholarship opportunity to Frontliners who complete an associate degree at one of the following partner community colleges:

  • Henry Ford College
  • Jackson College
  • Macomb Community College
  • Oakland Community College
  • Schoolcraft College
  • Washtenaw Community College
  • Monroe County Community College

Frontliners who enroll at EMU and are Pell Grant eligible will receive an EMU Frontliner Scholarship to cover the remaining tuition balance. A Pell Grant plus the EMU Frontliner Scholarship will cover the full tuition cost for up to 12 credit hours per semester for five consecutive semesters.

Frontliners who enroll at EMU and are not Pell eligible will receive an EMU Frontliner scholarship of $5,000, which will be divided into increments of $1,250 for four consecutive semesters (Fall and Winter only).

The EMU Frontliners Scholarship is available to new transfer students only. It cannot be combined with other transfer scholarships and is not available to students enrolling in programs that are already discounted such as RN to BSN or Information Assurance and Cyber Defense (online).

Students who receive the EMU Frontliners Scholarship must enroll for at least 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Winter) and maintain an EMU grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 or above in order to maintain scholarship eligibility.
