  • Describe the position’s primary tasks and duties.

Staffing the reception desk at Growing Hope Center, answering phones and taking messages, receiving walk-in visitors/appointments and notifying staff.

  • Describe the skills needed for this position (e.g. able to tutor in middle-school math; able to lift heavy boxes, etc.).

Written and oral communication, ability to take messages and convey relevant information, be courteous and professional with public/visitors to center.

  • Describe any attitude and/or behaviors necessary for this position (e.g comfortable working with the elderly; interested in youth development, etc.).

Positive and helpful demeanor when working with staff and visitors, flexibility in coverage of reception duties and multi-tasking.

At least 4 hours per week and no more than 29

Ideally, we'd have someone at the Growing Hope Center reception desk during regular business hours, 9-5, M-F. We currently utilize staff in 4 hours shifts, 9-1 and 1-5, and would like to free up staff from that responsibility. Short of full time coverage, times and shifts can be look different, but would hopefully be set for several months/semesters at a time.

Growing Hope is a local nonprofit which focuses on helping people improve their lives and communities through gardening and healthy food access. Positions at Growing Hope would offer great experiences for those with interests in public health, nutrition, food access, community and economic development, and public sector work in general.
