Transfer Honor Society at EMU

Tau Sigma for Eastern Michigan University LogoAs a transfer student, one may face challenges in finding a place on campus in which to feel a true sense of belonging. By bringing a chapter of this Honor Society to EMU’s campus, we hope to provide academically-excelling transfer students with a place to feel at home, within a community of students with similar values and relatable circumstances. EMU aims to help guide these students through the transition period that transfer students are subject to and the difficulties that result. Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is pleased to announce the coming of its newest Honor Society chapter designed specifically for transfer students! Tau Sigma is a nationally-recognized Honor Society that was founded at Auburn University twenty years ago. Today, it is present across the nation, in chapters at over 175 institutions. The organization’s mission is to “recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students.”

An Honor Society is a community of scholars, students striving to go above and beyond their systematic duty in order to develop as professional individuals and increase their network.  In joining Tau Sigma, you can expect a shift in your collegiate experience that will present you with the opportunity to take leadership positions and use your involvement as a tool to boost your marketability in the workforce.

If you participated in an honor society at your previous college such as Phi Theta Kappa, we strongly encourage that you continue your experience with Theta Nu as a member and an officer.

You can read more about the nationally-recognized Honor Society at the Official Tau Sigma Website.
