Brotherhood and Sisterhood (BHSH) Scholars Program

The BHSH Scholars program is a student support program designed to assist first-year students of color during their transition and adjustment to postsecondary education. This program is housed within Academic Success Partnerships (ASP), a campus department committed to creating an inclusive environment for students by providing access to beneficial resources to achieve their personal, academic and professional goals.

Our program is specifically designed to increase the completion, retention and graduation rates for students of color at EMU. We help participants develop leadership skills, create a sense of wellbeing, and teach them how to thrive as a community.

We offer the following to our program participants:

  • A living-learning residential community where students build relationships with like-minded individuals.
  • A customized introduction to career exploration course led by engaging and highly qualified instructors through the College of Education.
  • A designated academic coach to meet with regularly throughout the first year, to ensure students are progressing towards graduation.

How do I apply to participate in the program?

To apply for the 2024-2025 cohort submit a Brotherhood and Sisterhood Program Application.
