Eligibility and Program Requirements

  • Must be admitted to EMU with a 2.75 or above GPA from High School
  • Complete program application and schedule a program interview
  • Read, sign and submit the Accountability Agreement
  • Register for designated cohort courses approved for Global Awareness and Learning Beyond the Classroom L3 (Fall Term) and U.S. Diversity (Winter Term) during their first year
  • Move-in August 18th to participate in our in-person Extended Orientation before the start of the semester 
  • Participate in regular individual academic coach meetings
  • Commit to complete a minimum of 10 hours of study tables weekly
  • Attend required BHSH evening programming

Orientations

  • Family Orientation Expand dropdown

    During this orientation students and their parents/guardians will meet the program staff and go over key program elements (i.e., Overview of program, goals and expectations, Extended Orientation, Early move in and parking details) Staff will also answer any questions students and their parents/guardians may have prior to the start of the fall semester.

    *Attending this orientation is mandatory for both students and parents/guardians desiring to participate in the program.

  • Extended Orientation Expand dropdown

    The BHSH scholars program Extended Orientation allows scholars to move on campus one week early to get better acclimated to EMUs campus, culture and resources and to help increase student engagement and connectedness before beginning their first semester of college.

    *Attending and completing this orientation is mandatory for students desiring to participate in the program.


Residential Requirements

Participants who choose to live on campus are required to live in Sellers Hall within the Brotherhood and Sisterhood Scholars Living-Learning Community (LLC). *With the exception of Presidential Scholars admitted through the Honors College. Otherwise, participants who choose to commute must reside within 60 miles of the University.
