College Panhellenic Association

National Panhellenic Conference

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is the governing body for 26 national and international sororities. The NPC exists to promote the values of and serve as an advocate for its member groups in collaboration with those members, campuses and communities. The National Panhellenic Conference provides support and guidance for its 26 member inter/national sororities/women's fraternities and serves as the national voice on contemporary issues of sorority life. Founded in 1902, the NPC is one of the oldest and largest women's membership organizations representing more than 4 million women at 655 college/university campuses and 4,500 local alumnae chapters in the U.S. and Canada. Each year, NPC-affiliated collegians and alumnae donate more than $5 million to worthy causes, provide $2.8 million in scholarships to women and volunteer 500,000 hours in their communities. The College Panhellenic Association is the local extension of this organization, and is composed of 8 elected leaders from various chapters who are chosen to serve the overall needs of the chapters. Here on Eastern Michigan University's campus, the College Panhellenic Association represents 7 active sorority chapters.

Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment

We are so glad that you are interested in joining a Panhellenic sorority here at EMU!
Before you register for Panhellenic recruitment, make sure to review all of the chapters we have present at Eastern Michigan University across our four councils. You can view them all here.

If you have a parent or caregiver who is looking for more information, please refer them to our Parent Page.

Membership in a social Greek organization at EMU brings you a wealth of opportunities. From lifelong friendships to special access to scholarships to leadership opportunities, becoming a member of Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) at Eastern Michigan University provides you with a strong support network, personal growth, and the chance to make a lasting impact on campus and in the community. Whether you’re seeking personal development, academic success, or a chance to contribute to meaningful causes, FSL offers a dynamic environment for individuals to thrive both during and after their college experience.

We have 7 chapters within the College Panhellenic Association (CPA) at EMU. When you participate in structured recruitment in the Fall, you get the opportunity to meet each of them and determine the best fit for you. To help prepare you for recruitment, we are hosting a Potential New Member (PNM) orientation on Friday, August 29th at 4pm via Zoom and Friday, September 5th at 6pm via Zoom, as well as a "Meet the Panhellenic" event on Wednesday, August 27th at 5pm in Student Center room 310A.

To register for structured recruitment, please click this link to be taken to Campus Director. Please note there is a nonrefundable $10 registration fee which covers your recruitment tshirt! The deadline to register for primary recruitment is Tuesday, September 9th.

It is important to note that structured recruitment is a mutual selection process, which means that both potential members and individual sororities are making choices about membership. The chapters prioritize the women they decide they would like to invite back each round, just like the women participating in the structured process are prioritizing which chapters they'd like to go back to. It is important to understand that you may not always get invited back to the chapters you would like to attend, but we hope that you will explore all options regardless.

Recruitment begins on Monday, September 8th and ends on Sunday, September 14th. A more detailed schedule can be found below. We recommend downloading the PNM Companion app throughout the recruitment process for your schedule and to input your preferences at the end of each round.

At the end of recruitment, you will complete the Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA). You can learn more about the MRABA here: MRABA Explainer Video

Please review the PNM Lookbook at this link to review more information about the Panhellenic community at EMU, and to prepare you for the primary recruitment process. Please also review the PNM Bill of Rights and the PNM Code of Ethics. These are important documents that outline our expectations and our promises to you!

If you have any questions or have difficulty completing the registration, please reach out to the Vice President of Membership, Olivia Wetzel, at [email protected], or the Panhellenic President, Kandi Bethke, at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
