Civic Engagement

Service and philanthropy are extremely important to EMU Greek community members. Service and philanthropy are amazing opportunities for Greek community members to connect with the EMU and Ypsilanti communities, as well as make an impact on a national level. These opportunities also lead to meaningful dialog between community members.

Greek Life Service Challenge

In 2017, President James Smith has challenged the Greek community to complete 17,520 hours of service. This actually turns into 2 full years of service! Because each chapter is a different size, each chapter will be responsible for a different percentage of the service challenge, but together, we can make this happen. Chapters that complete their portion of the service challenge will be invited to a celebration with President Smith at the end of the year, will be recognized at our annual Greek Awards Ceremony, and will receive recognition from the Greek Life Office to their National Headquarters.
