About Us

Eastern Michigan University's College of Arts and Sciences is a student-centered college of the arts and sciences within a comprehensive, research university.

Being student-centered means that teaching and supporting our students is our faculty’s first priority. We offer small- to medium-sized classes that allow students to get to know their professors and fellow students. Outside of class, professors facilitate student learning by meeting with and mentoring students, and by advising student organizations.

As a college of arts and sciences, we offer majors in the fine and performing arts, the humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences, as well as several majors oriented toward particular careers. The liberal arts education we provide empowers students to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Being part of a comprehensive, research university means that our faculty engage in cutting-edge research in a wide range of academic disciplines. Because our professors are active researchers and artists, they are able to teach about the latest discoveries and current debates in their fields, and to guide students' research and creative projects.
