Eastern Michigan University

Student Using Braille PrinterThe CATE Lab provides space for students to take exams and quizzes outside of the classroom.  This is necessary when the classroom environment presents barriers to students fully demonstrating what they have learned.

Staff arrange to obtain, proctor, and return exams and quizzes to faculty for scoring.  Students need to book their exam with the DRC ahead of time, to allow arrangements to be made.

This environment includes: low distraction; access to screen readers; voice dictation software; use of computer to type answers.

CATE is part of the DRC and is used by students that are registered with the DRC and have testing accommodations.
