Student writers experience the support of camp teachers and peers when they attend Inkstains Writing Camps. This year, Inkstains will be online! 

Inkstains: Signature Saturdays

Writers in grades 3-12 are invited to join us online this winter and spring for Inkstains: Signature Saturdays! We will meet from 1-3 p.m. on the following dates to explore a variety of genres:

  • April 3: Poetry - Fun with Form
  • May 1: Journaling and Mindfulness Writing

Inkstains Creative Young Writers Camp, incoming grades 3-5

  • July 19-23, Monday–Friday, 10 a.m. to noon (EST)
  • The cost of the camp is $100 for the first student, $85 for siblings.

Inkstains is a supportive virtual space for young writers to explore their creative ideas. Students will participate in daily writing time individually, in small groups, and with partners. Due to the young ages of participants and the virtual nature of the camp, students should be engaged and enthusiastic writers. Parent or adult assistance may be needed in case of technological difficulties.

Inkstains Creative Writing Camp, incoming grades 6-8

  • July 19-23, Monday–Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (EST)
  • The cost of the camp is $185 for the first student, $170 for siblings

Inkstains Creative Writing Camp will be a multi-track creative writing adventure in which writers will play with words. There will be lessons as well as conference opportunities. Students will share their writing and offer constructive feedback. The Zoom link will stay open for informal lunch gatherings. Students will also meet virtually with their writing groups for feedback. During the day, writers will choose from prompts and lessons related to poetry, fiction, script-writing, experimental essays, creative nonfiction, and more.

New for 2021: Inkstains Multi-genre Writing Camps

  • August 2-6, Monday-Friday, 3 camps for writers in grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12
    • Grades 3-5: 10 a.m. - noon (EST)
    • Grades 6-8: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (EST)
    • Grades 9-12: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (EST)
  • The cost of the camp is $185 for the first student, $170 for siblings

Writers will spend a week naming and defining genres and playing with new ways to write about a familiar topic in multi or unfamiliar genres.
