About this Program

The Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (CM) program focuses on teaching the technical and business skills required to prepare men and women for middle- and upper-level management in the construction industry. The CM major reflects the current needs and trends in the construction industry. It has been developed in cooperation with experts from the construction industry, guidelines established by major construction associations, and feedback from employers and graduates. The CM program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education.

  • CM Site Visit - EMU Lakeview Apartments 

    On October 10, 2023, Clark, Gilbane, and AVB invited students from EMU’s CNST 213 Construction Safety class to participate in a site tour at the new EMU Lakeview Apartments under construction, just north of the EMU Student Center for Welcome Home 2024. 

    The students witnessed various activities and construction stages to put real-world boots-on-the-ground visualization into their studies. When students reflected on the site tour, it was clear everyone enjoyed the experience and found the information they learned helpful.

  • Spring EMU CM Career Fair 2023

    On March 15th, 2023, 4:00 – 6:30 PM Eastern Constructors hosted our Spring EMU Construction Management Career Fair, which had over 30 contractors and over 75 student attendees. The support from contractors is a pivotal component of our students’ future careers. The demand for new talent in the construction industry for internships and full-time employment is at an all-time high. We look forward to even more growth in the industry in the future!

  • Donation of Structural Steel Members to the Construction Management Program

    Mr. Mike Joseph, on behalf of DeMaria,  donated structural steel members to the Eastern Michigan University Structures Class in the Construction Management program. The steel members will be used to help students understand the different shapes and sizes of steel and their uses in structures.

    In addition, Marty Huizar, Director of Health & Safety, spoke to the EMU Construction Management Safety Class about safe construction practices. His presentation included photos and videos demonstrating safe and unsafe practices. Marty talked about DeMaria's culture and how safety before production is not just words but how we do business.

  • EMU CM Student Alumni Summit 2023

    On March 15th, 2023, 6:30 – 8:00 PM, the EMU Construction Management Alumni hosted the Student Alumni Summit. Attendance included EMU CM Alumni, students in the EMU CM program, and EMU CM faculty. The event featured Melanie Myers, Project Manager of Planning, Design, and Construction at Trinity Health Michigan as a guest speaker. There were also many networking activities where students could interact with alumni to better understand the industry and career outlooks.
