Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan with his formative years spent in Newport News, VA, Major Schilling enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1996 and received a direct commission in 2007. Prior to entering active service in 2005, Major Schilling was a police officer in North Carolina and mobilized with the Army Reserve for Operation Noble Eagle in 2001 and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
