Additional Information

MAJ Joe Agius, originally from Troy, MI, enlisted in the United States Army in 2006. He
received his commission through Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was branched as a Signal
Corps officer. He now serves in a functional area role as a Foreign Area Officer. 

His operational assignments began in Hawaii and include duties as a Platoon Leader (PL),
Executive Officer (XO), and Network Operations (NETOPS) Battle Captain in the 25 th Infantry
Division (ID) Headquarters. He then served in South Korea as the 36 th Signal Battalion Assistant
Operations Officer and 293 rd Signal Company Commander. His next assignment was in
Singapore as a Foreign Area Officer trainee in the Defense Attaché Office and Security
Cooperation Office of the U.S. Embassy – Singapore. MAJ Agius then served as a U.S. Army
Japan, Liaison Officer (LNO) to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). Prior to coming
to Eastern Michigan University, as an Assistant Professor of Military Science, he served again in
Hawaii in the U.S. Army Pacific Headquarters as a Southeast Asia Program Manager in the
Security Cooperation Division.

Major Agius is married to the former Emi Tsujimoto of Kinomoto, Shiga, Japan. They have one
daughter, Carina, and a Bedlington terrier named Brownie.
