Christopher Shropshire 311A-2 Porter




Chris has an educational background that includes a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from The University of Michigan – Ann Arbor as well as an MBA from Northwood University. Concurrently, Chris is a doctoral candidate in the Executive Cohort at the University of Alabama. His research is focused on institutional environments that create conditions for student learning and achievement in addition to college success factors of traditionally under-represented and under-served students.

Interests and Expertise

Chris has varied experiences within both higher education as well as K-12 in various capacities, with a focus on the cultivation of educational environments that are conducive to preparing students for the next phase of life and development. His professional experience includes a number of years as a practitioner in the area of student development and worked with a University authorizer of charter schools. He has evaluated educational models and provided expertise and guidance to improve educational programming, as well as business practices to more effectively serve students.  Through this work, Chris has facilitated and assisted in the areas of strategic thinking and planning, working with teams and organizations to place themselves on a trajectory of achieving great things for students.

Additional Information

Chris serves as the Associate Director of Charter Schools at Eastern Michigan University. He works collaboratively with board members and educational leaders around creating cultures of achievement and developing as well as implementing organizational strategy to improve student outcomes.
