Welcome to the CHHS Advising Center!

The health and well-being of our students, staff, and faculty is our top priority. In accordance with the university’s recommendations for maintaining social distancing and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the CHHS Advising Center is closed to walk-in traffic.

  • We offer one-on-one Virtual advising by appointment only, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • We offer limited one-on-one in-person advising by appointment only, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Virtual Zoom Drop-Ins (no appointment needed) are on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 - 4 p.m. See below for more information!

When do I register for Winter 2022 courses?

Your Registration date and time is based on your total earned hours (Fall 2021 hours do not count towards your totals). To verify your total earned hours, see your online Academic Transcript my.emich account > student services > student records > academic transcript, then scroll down and find the "cumulative earned hours". Once you find this number, you can view the Registration Calendar.

    CHHS advisors meet with admitted undergraduate students in CHHS majors and minors. The Office of Admissions can help you if you have questions about attending and/or transferring to Eastern Michigan University.

    • In order to schedule an appointment you must be admitted to EMU and logged into your my.emich account.
    • For all virtual appointments, we ask that you are on a computer or tablet and logged in to your emich account, and are prepared to take notes either electronically or with a pen and paper.
    • Advising appointments typically take 30 minutes and are generally via phone or zoom. We offer limited in-person advising BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

    Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2–4 p.m. 

    Virtual Drop-In Advising is for:
    • Currently enrolled EMU Students
    • Assistance with reading your Gen Ed Audit
    • Questions about a pre-requisite for a specific course
    • Starfish concerns, or help scheduling an appointment
    • Assistance with withdrawing from a course
    • Questions about who to contact if you are changing your major

    Virtual Drop-In Advising is not for:

    • Prospective students with questions about being admitted to EMU
    • Major specific questions or questions about articulation agreements
    • Questions about filling out a second admit application
    • Creating your schedule for next semester
    • Creating a four year plan

  • Second Bachelor Students

    If you are a newly admitted Second Bachelor Student, please do not schedule an appointment with our office.

    Please email [email protected] with the following information:

    • Your name
    • Your EID number
    • Where you received your first bachelor's degree from
    • The major you have been admitted for and are requesting advising for

    We will respond to your email within 5-7 business days and provide you with a program of study, detailed next steps, major specific information, and registration instructions.

    The CHHS Advising Center is closed to walk-in traffic and has limited in-person advising BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. We are located in Room 214 of the Marshall Building.

    There is no free parking on campus: the nearest parking lot is at Pease Auditorium (GPS: 494 College Place, Ypsilanti, MI, 48197). The Pease Auditorium Parking Lot is $1.75/hr and is a 5-10 minute walk to the Marshall Building. Download A Campus Map [PDF].

    The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) Advising Center is for admitted undergraduate students who are interested in an undergraduate major or minor in CHHS. CHHS is one of the largest colleges at the university, offering a variety of majors and minors. As a student at Eastern Michigan University you are strongly encouraged to talk with a CHHS advisor each semester to maintain your progress the in the general education program and to begin to develop your major program of study.
