Biography

Darlene Bellers is a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RDN) and Board-certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM). At Eastern Michigan University, she serves as the clinic director for Eagle Nutrition Services, the on-campus nutrition counseling clinic, and precepts dietetic students who rotate through for their supervised practice experience. Additionally, she is the Student Org Advisor for the Student Dietetic Association. Her professional interests include adult and pediactric weight management, counseling, and community and outpatient nutrition.

Prior to coming to EMU, Mrs. Bellers' career has focused on adult weight management. She has worked at Michigan Medicine in the Adult Bariatric Surgery Program, with the HMR Program for Weight Management at Trinity Health in Ann Arbor, designed a weight loss program at Wayne State University's Campus Health Center, and worked at Jenny Craig, Inc. as a weight loss consultant. She has previously taught at DeVry University. Darlene has completed both the Level 1 and 2 Adult Weight Management Certificate Trainings though the Comission on Dietetic Registration, and in March 2018 became a Board-certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management.

In 2022, Mrs. Bellers received the Student Affairs Gold Medallion Award for Outstanding Campus Partner for her participation in campus wellness events.
