Dr. Vandenberg has been the medical director of the Eastern Michigan University Physician Assistant Program since its inception in October, 2012. He is a physician with over 30 years of experience in both clinical practice and medical education in the fields of internal medicine and hospital medicine. He currently serves as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital-Ann Arbor.

Dr. Vandenberg previously held the position of chief of staff and Medical Director at Select Specialty Hospital in Ann Arbor. He has directed multiple hospitalist programs, and was among the first to integrate a Physician Assistant model into hospital-based care. An ardent supporter of health care education, he has held numerous clinical faculty positions with multiple PA programs and Medical Schools.
