Laura Martinez retired from public service after 34 years. This service includes the State of Michigan Department of Human Services, where she worked in the areas of:

  • General Service Administration
  • Child Support and Children Services
  • Domestic Violence
  • Fatherhood Engagement Initiative
  • Strong Families/Safe Children Division

She did this as a consultant and technical assistant to community groups working with at-risk populations.

She also served with the Department of Corrections as a:

  • Probation/parole agent
  • Mental health traumatic incident debriefer team member
  • Home health care social worker

    • Particularly in the areas of immigration related to repatriation of Latino populations
