Grounded Design Through Technology
The Bachelor of Arts in Entertainment Design and Technology is a multidisciplinary program for students interested in the Entertainment Industry. Students learn about theatre design and technology, as well as a wide range of skills related to theatrical design and technology (in areas such as scenery, lighting, costumes, projections, sound, management, and more).
Our Academic Programs
A core tenet of the Entertainment Design and Technology major is learning by doing. Students will build strong portfolios by engaging in hands-on work and collaborating with faculty and other students. The degree curriculum is grounded in theatre design and technology with supplemental studies from arts and technology courses across the campus. Students can tailor the program to their area or areas of interest. Some courses offered include:
- Stagecraft
- Three-Dimensional Design
- Scene Design
- Lighting Design
- Costume Design
- Drafting for the Entertainment Industry
- Writing for Electronic Media
A minor in Entertainment Design and Technology is available for students in any major.
Student Activities and Involvement
Our students regularly attend professional conferences such as The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT). In addition, they have opportunities to work on one of several backstage crews or do design work for our theatre productions.
Internships or Jobs
Students are encouraged to seek opportunities to work in the entertainment industry. As such, faculty and staff engage students in finding employment and internship opportunities in the industry. Our program has connections with corporate affiliates who regularly provide support for our productions and offer employment opportunities for our students.
