Welcome to the Sales Institute at Eastern Michigan University and the College of Business. The purpose of the institute is to provide students with exposure to corporate sales as a career and to assist leading corporations in recruiting top EMU students.

Eastern teaches more than 400 students in sales each year and has a sales concentration in the marketing program. Competing in sales competitions is a great way for students to add relative working experience to their resumes and gives them a competitive edge when searching for jobs. The Sales Institute is open to all majors throughout Eastern Michigan University.

Sales Competitions

EMU will be competing at the International Collegiate Sales Competition in Orlando, Florida in November 2021. Due to the Delta COVID variant, all events will be conducted virtually. EMU will be competing in two events:

Speed Selling Competition

Sell yourself in a spontaneous 1-minute role play with a company who is looking to hire.

  • First place prize: $1000; Second place: $750; Third place $500.

Role Play Competition

Role play a B2B scenario as a Citrx XendeskTop sales rep selling to a representative from North American Plastics. In order to prepare for the role play, you will have access to training on the scenario and Citrix product, as well as the option to watch a live product demonstration.

  • First place prize: $2500; 1st Runner Up: $1000; 2nd and 3rd Runner Up: $500;
  • Rookie of the Year: $250
