Professional Summary

Tony Kurek teaches courses in both financial and managerial cost accounting, utilizing his previous experiences as an in-charge auditor with Plante Moran in Toledo, Ohio to provide his students with a real-world connection to the instructional materials. He was the University's 2010–11 Lecturer's Outstanding Teaching Award recipient and has been honored by the EMU Athletic Department on several occasions by being selected as a student-athlete's Most Valuable Professor and Faculty Honoree of an athletic team's "Top Scholar" multiple times.

Tony's service to the University includes serving as a member of the College of Business Professional and Ethics Committee and as treasurer to the Eastern Michigan University Federation of Teachers, among many other activities that involve educating students on accounting career options and certifications and advising them on career placement strategies.

Tony is licensed as a Michigan certified public accountant and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
