Darien Terrell

MBA graduate - 2017

"When I look back on my time at Eastern Michigan, it brings me great joy to see how much the University has continued to develop. While competing on the football team from 2012-2016, I was able to be a part of so many special times, and develop relationships that will last a lifetime. Eastern Michigan offered me an opportunity to pursue both athletic and academic excellence within the College of Business, where I was able to complete my undergrad and MBA within my 5 years as a member of the football team.

The combination of competing athletically, and studying at one of Michigan's best academic institutions has granted me with a tremendous amount of growth potential, and for that, I am proud to be an EMU alum.” Read more about Darien Terrell’s journey to becoming a CEO.

Brandan Freeman

MBA graduate - 2019

"As I reflect on these past couple years post-graduation, I can truly say that I am grateful for the experiences offered to me at Eastern.

As an Ypsi native, after graduating high school, my future was uncertain. College wasn’t guaranteed. Beyond that, gaining employment that would offer financial mobility for myself was certainly out of the question. I know that mindset was not unique. Many students, and young professionals, with a background like mine have felt the same way as I did. I can say without a doubt that attending Eastern was a key component in helping me begin the journey of reaching my full potential. Attending Eastern was a great experience, and it has allowed myself to achieve things professionally that I didn't know were possible.

I have grown as a professional in leaps and bounds due in large part by my experience as an MBA student at Eastern. In the two years since my graduation, I have been able to earn a senior level position professionally, and a six-figure salary, achievements previously believed to be beyond my reach. My education has also given me the skills and confidence needed to continue to excel as a professional. In short, I owe a lot of my professional successes and achievements to Eastern."

Jessica Bobee

MBA Supply Chain Management graduate - 2017

"After being established in my entrepreneurial career for over 10 years I decided that I wanted to make a jump from the fast casual food service industry to the automotive industry, as well as, earn an MBA. This change in industries would be difficult and as such, I began to prepare applications to highly ranked MBA programs. I also interviewed the universities that I was interested in; EMU was among those I interviewed. Upon meeting with Michelle Henry and her colleagues I was thrilled to apply to EMU’s MBA program. I was accepted with a concentration in Supply Chain Management. My MBA from EMU helped me secure a career at Ford Motor Company and I felt prepared entering my new position given the specialized training I received at EMU."

Chelsea Brown

MBA Marketing graduate - 2018

"Before I entered the MBA program, I had been in my position for seven years, and wanted to take the next professional step. By enrolling at EMU, I was able to continue working full-time due to the flexible format. Also, I took courses taught by accomplished faculty (who genuinely cared if students learned the concepts), had opportunities to network with other students, and most importantly, expanded my knowledge and skills in business administration. Around the time I finished the program, I got a new position working for a university. Today I work on the business operations team at a service journalism organization in Detroit. I believe my education at EMU has given me the tools to advance my career."

Pierce Fitzpatrick

MBA graduate - 2018

"The MBA program at EMU is attractive to entrepreneurs like myself, due to the depth of knowledge and expertise of the faculty, and the quality of peer discussions. While attending EMU, I was actively building High Route Gear, a Detroit-based outdoor clothing startup. Growing a startup during an MBA program allowed me to apply my coursework to a live business model. I could pose current business challenges to tap into the expertise of the professors. My MBA has provided me with skills that I have since been able to apply to several high growth start-ups. I am currently the co-founder of No Dirty Earth, a producer of international award-winning water treatment systems for mobile applications. I use what I learned during my MBA everyday."

Chirag Chug

MBA Supply Chain Management graduate - 2015

"I always felt that I was lucky to be a student at Eastern Michigan University. The thing that I admire most is that I always received support from everyone regarding ‘on campus jobs’ to ‘scoring good grades ‘ to ‘getting full time job’. They are always motivational. The other main reason to join this school was that there were many students from various nationalities, so I thought I would fit in much better here. I was able to establish great relationships with faculty and other students with whom I’m still in touch with. I did master's in business administration and I believe that I improved a lot in my organizational skills, analytical skills, leadership skills and out of the box thinking though various courses and seminars. These skills actually helped me a lot in getting an opportunity to work with multiple companies."
