The MBA program at Eastern Michigan University provides you with innovative, applied and global knowledge and skills for today's competitive business environment. Most students complete their MBA in two years and a half years, but you’ll have up to six to complete your degree. Our courses are offered in a traditional format on campus; evenings and weekends at EMU–Livonia and some are totally online.
The MBA curriculum emphasizes communication, ethics, interdisciplinary knowledge and analytical and critical thinking skills. We craft our courses to develop students with global, innovative and strategic leadership characteristics.
The MBA program of study requires a minimum of 36 credits and is comprised of four parts:
- Foundation (18 credits, may be waived based on previous coursework)
- Core (18 credits)
- Restricted Electives (6 credits)
- Specialization Courses (12–15 credits)
If you earned your bachelor’s in business administration from an AACSB-accredited school, you’ll get to waive all 18 of the foundation course credits. (If your school is not in this category, we’ll assess your undergrad work on a case-by-case basis).
Customize Your Path
There’s a couple different ways to customize your MBA at EMU. If you’re earning the general MBA, you’ll take 12 credit hours of open electives instead of specialized courses. If not, you may choose from one of 14 areas of specialization:
- Computer Information Systems
- Business Analytics
- Hotel and Restaurant Management
- Human Resource Management
- Internal Auditing
- International Business
- Marketing Management
- Nonprofit Management
- Sports Management
- Supply Chain Management
