  Undergraduate Elementary – Early Childhood Education Grade Banding and Special Education with Elementary Education

  Complete the Checkpoint 1 Review form if you are an Elementary-Early Childhood Education and Special Education Elementary Majors following the Fall 2021 catalog or later are earning endorsements in grade bands: B-K, PK-3, 3-6, special education, and/or TESOL.

  All Undergraduate Secondary, K-12, and Secondary Special Education Majors as well as Elementary and Special Education elementary majors following a catalog previous to Fall 2021.

  Complete the Teacher Preparation Candidacy application if you are majoring in a secondary, K-12, special education secondary, or anyone education majors who began taking classes at EMU prior to Fall 2021.

  You will be required to upload a PDF version of an ICHAT Criminal Background Check. This process is completed on a Michigan State Police website. Please follow their directions for setting up your account and obtaining your background check. Note their guidelines on how much a search costs, and how long a search will stay available in your account. View the guide, below, on the steps necessary to run your ICHAT background check.

  NOTE: This application form is only for students who are currently earning their first bachelor’s degree and teacher certification simultaneously. This application form is NOT appropriate for post-baccalaureate, graduate, or master’s students.
