The Post-Master’s Certificate in K-12 Basic School Administration is a state-supported post-master’s professional development option for prospective and current educators who seek enhanced training in school and/or district leadership, management and instruction. The Basic Certificate in K-12 Administration may also be earned as part of the Educational Leadership – K-12 Administration [M.A.] or Educational Leadership [Sp.A.] degree programs at Eastern Michigan University.

What You Will Learn

You will take courses in community education and relations, instructional leadership, administering human resources, economics of public education, principalship, and legal, ethical and professional issues of administration. In addition, you will engage in an internship in educational administration, an opportunity for you to develop administrative skills by working under the direction of an experienced administrator.

Opportunities

Successful completion of this program, within the context of additional education and state requirements, are eligible to apply for the Michigan Department of Education Elementary & Secondary Administrator K-12 (ES) endorsement . Certified teachers with this endorsement display skills in leadership and administration in educational settings.
