Biography

Dr. Christine Deacons is the Director of Academic Support Programs at EMU. She has been lecturing in the Department of Teacher Education since fall 2018. For the past 10 years, she has coordinated the EMU Edge Program which supports students through their transition to college, and coordinated UNIV 101L3 which is the University's first-year transition course. In 2017, she was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Recognition Award for Student Engagement and Success. Her research interests focus primarily on culturally responsive teaching and learning and issues related to college access and equity. Christine maintains a blog, Educate360, where she shares what she has learned about effectively supporting students in and out of the classroom.
