The Elementary Education Language Arts Group Minor, along with skills acquired through a major course of study, prepares you to teach Language Arts in grades K-8.

What You Will Learn

You will learn multicultural and global children’s literature, oral interpretation, writing processes, theatre practices, dramatic concepts, improvisation and role play along with research-based approaches to teaching reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing for young children.


Successful completion of this minor, in the context of other program requirements, qualifies you for recommendation for endorsement in Elementary Language Arts (BX) in the state of Michigan. Certified teachers with the Elementary Language Arts (BX) endorsement are able to teach grades K-5 all subjects as well as grades 6-8 Language Arts and self-contained classrooms.
