The French Language Minor, along with skills acquired through a major course of study, will prepare you to teach French language and culture in either elementary or secondary school settings. This minor is for you if you love working with children and adolescents, love the French-speaking cultures, and are excited about developing proficiency in French.
What You Will Learn
You will learn French composition, conversation, culture, and civilizations along with age-appropriate theories and methods of modern language teaching. You will have many opportunities to practice skills when teaching small-group lessons to peers, working individually with learners with special needs, and leading students during student teaching.
Opportunities
Successful completion of this minor, in the context of other program requirements, qualifies you for recommendation for endorsement in French (FA) in the state of Michigan. Certified teachers with the Elementary French (FA) endorsement are able to teach French in grades K-12.
