The Secondary Education Vocational Technical Endorsement Minor, along with skills acquired through a major course of study, prepares you to teach one of EMU’s 23 vocational technical concentrations in 6-12th grade classrooms.

What You Will Learn

You will learn the principles of career and technical education along with curriculum planning and design.

Required Work Experience (within last 5 years)

  • Option I: 4,000 hours total (2 years)
  • Option II: 2,000 hours total + one semester EMU co-op course work, + MOCAC/NOCTI test

Opportunities

Successful completion of this minor, in the context of other program requirements, qualifies the student for recommendation for the Michigan Department of Education Vocational Technical (VT) endorsement. The student also qualifies for the Interim Occupational Certificate. Certified teachers with the Vocational Technical (VT) endorsement can teach Vocational Technical courses in 6-12th grade classrooms.
