The Specialist of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership is a Post-Master’s program for prospective and practicing educational leaders. Eastern Michigan University’s advanced professional education programs support inquiry, advocacy and leadership in education for a diverse and democratic society.
What You Will Learn
The specialist’s degree program requires a minimum of 32 hours beyond the master’s degree. You will work closely with your advisor in developing programs that will prepare you for your career goals. You will take courses in leadership theory, advances organizational theory, and research. Additionally, you will further develop your administrative and leadership skills through a professional internship by working under the direction of an experienced administrator.
The program provides advanced administration preparation for P-12 schools and institutions of higher education and/or the course work required by the State of Michigan for the central office (CO) endorsement. Additional coursework is required should a student wish to qualify for the building level administration certificate. Students in this program can take advantage of all that the College of Education has to offer. Those interested may seek advising, apply for scholarships, and participate in activities in the Department of Leadership & Counseling, the home department for this graduate certificate.
