CPT Anderson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications, both from Penn State University. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Leader Course and the Signal Captains Career Course.

Professional Summary

C PT David C. Anderson spent his formative years in Springfield, Pennsylvania and La Plata, Maryland.   In May 2009, he graduated from Penn State University and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Infantry.   His first key assignment was as a Platoon Leader for Fox Company, Second Squadron, Second Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany under the command of LTC Omar J. Jones IV.   Forward deployed to Afghanistan, CPT Anderson was the COP Commander for Combat Outpost Mizan from September 2010 to February 2011.   From July 2011 to December 2012, he served as the Executive Officer of Fox Company and was recognized as the best Junior Officer in the Regiment, receiving the 2d Cavalry Huggins award from COL Douglas A. Sims II.   Upon completion of Signal Captains Career Course in December 2013, CPT Anderson became the Battalion S6 for the 3rd Armored Brigade's Special Troops Battalion in Fort Carson, Colorado under the command of LTC John H. Chaffin IV.  He remained as the S6 during the unit's transformation into an Engineer Battalion and throughout the unit’s deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield 2015.   CPT Anderson took command of the Brigade Signal Company on 15 September 2015 as the unit transitioned back to Fort Carson and guided the unit through NTC Rotation 16-09 in preparation for Operation Atlantic Resolve.  CPT Anderson changed command on 24 October 2016 and has been an ROTC Instructor at Eastern Michigan University since 15 November 2016. He started teaching the junior class MSL 300's in the Spring of 2017

CPT Anderson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Achievement Medal (2OLC),  National Defense Service Medal,  Afghanistan Campaign Medal,  Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon,  Overseas Service Ribbon (3) and NATO Medal.   He also earned the Combat Infantry Badge (2010), Expert Infantryman Badge (2012) and Parachutist Badge (2008).
