Creative Scientific Inquiry Experience

The Creative Scientific Inquiry Experience (CSIE) is a STEM-related program funded by the U.S. Department of Education that connects students with faculty and with community projects through an integrated science curriculum.

We specialize in creating learning experiences for students in STEM fields through innovative courses and student events. Our courses are 1-2 credit hours, and faculty work with community partners to develop coursework that allows students to work on real-world problems.

CSIE also offers academic support that includes:

  • Book loan program where students enrolled in CSIE courses can check out CSIE/STEM textbooks for free
  • Tutoring
  • Peer mentoring and faculty mentoring

You can find out about our programs for students and training for faculty, as well as information about Math and Science clubs and national organizations on this site.

EMU Invent

Save the date! CSIE, the College of Business, and the College of Technology are working with the Henry Ford Museum to bring you the Invention Convention Michigan on April 25, 2020.

Invention Convention Michigan provides students in grades 3-12 an interactive and interdisciplinary opportunity to use the invention process to create and pitch an original product at a state-wide convention. Students will build their critical thinking and entrepreneurial skills and may qualify to compete at  Invention Convention U.S. Nationals.

The Henry Ford hopes that Invention Convention Michigan will bring together problem-solvers, inventors, and entrepreneurs of all ages, backgrounds, and disciplines.

If you are interested in participating as a teacher, judge, or showcase partner and would like to learn more about the program, please email us at [email protected].
