EMU Invent

Eastern Michigan University (EMU), in affiliation with the Henry Ford’s Invention Convention Worldwide, invites K-12 students and teachers to participate in EMU Invent, a regional convention that provides students in grades K-12 an interactive and interdisciplinary opportunity to use the invention process to create and pitch an original product. Individual students, students in teams (up to four) and teachers with several teams of students are all invited to participate.

The regional competition EMU Invent will be held on March 6, 2020 at McKenney Hall, Eastern Michigan University. Outstanding projects in the regionals will be invited to participate in the Michigan Invention Convention on April 25, 2020.

Through EMU Invent, we hope to bring the innovative ideas of young minds to life. Bringing together problem-solvers, inventors, and entrepreneurs of all ages, backgrounds, and disciplines will show students the way to entrepreneurship, innovation and invention in an organized manner. We are excited to see what your school has to offer!

Volunteers

If you are a university student, engineer, business person, or entrepreneur, we invite you to join the circle of mentors. The mentors will help our independent inventor students innovate and convert their ideas into prototypes. If you’d like to volunteer, please register here.

Teachers

Teachers may register to bring their class teams to the competition. To help teachers prepare the students, we will organize orientation workshops for teachers to guide them through the process and answer all their questions. Interested teachers please email us at [email protected]. EMU will then with you to share the dates for the workshops, to be held starting early November.

Students

For students who have an idea but need help taking it forward, EMU is also organizing independent inventor workshops. Through these workshops, we will connect the students with budding and experienced engineers and entrepreneurs. Interested independent inventors may register here .
