Core Digital Library

What is it?

The CORE Digital Library (CDL) is an online resource created and maintained by our staff that pertains to social justice issues related to race and ethnicity. This library includes news articles, academic articles, books, podcasts, videos, and other forms of digital media.

Who is it for?

The CDL is primarily for students, faculty, and staff at Eastern Michigan University (EMU), as some of our resources do require an EMU NetID login. Although people who are not part of the EMU community cannot access all of the resources here, we still encourage people to use this page as a starting point to help them find resources.

Why does this exist?

The phrase “Google is free” is often said in social justice circles when we talk about people educating themselves, yet that could be problematic as it may be difficult to recognize which is a reliable source. This library exists as a tool for those who have questions about movements such as the Black Lives Matter movement, or any other question pertaining to social justice issues related to race and ethnicity.
