Student Organizations
The Resource Center staff are excited to connect students of any levels wishing to start a new LGBTQ+ based student organization or bring a local chapter of a national organization to EMU's campus. Please email the Coordinator, Amy, at [email protected] for more information.
There is currently one active LGBTQ+ student organization at EMU: Crystal Queer. For more information on this club and for additional information on what other student organizations exist at EMU visit Campus Life’s website.
Student Employment
The Center staff consists of one graduate student and a number of undergraduate students based on the Center’s needs. Both opportunities are typically filled during the Winter term for the following academic year. When actively searching for additional staff, applications will be listed below. Please email the Coordinator, Amy, at [email protected] for more information.
Practicums, Internships and Volunteering
Below are descriptions of how practicums, internships, and volunteering differ. If you are interested in being an intern, practicum student, or volunteer with the LGBT Resource Center please contact the Coordinator, Amy, at [email protected].
Internship
You can get class credit for your involvement with the resource center! Your resource center internship experience will be tailored with Amy to fit the needs of your education and interests, as well as the needs of the resource center.
Practicum
You can get class credit for your involvement with the resource center in a practical, job-based capacity. While an internship experience is hands-on, this is more directly hands-on and should be applicable to exploring job opportunities for your future (like in higher education and student affairs, or social work, for example). Your resource center practicum experience will be tailored with Amy to fit the needs of your growth and development, as well as the needs of the resource center.
Volunteer
Simply contact us and get started! Volunteering at the resource center is designed to get you connected with the programs and services that we provide, while also helping the resource center grow and offer as much as we possibly can. A volunteer experience requires no form and only requires your commitment!
