  • Where can I get a new emeritus ID card? Expand dropdown

    New location! Emeritus ID cards are now available at the Student Center in the Services EMU office. The office recently moved from 203 Pierce Hall to the Student Center. Your card allows you access to the library and free tickets to theatre performances and athletic events.

  • What is the process for obtaining complimentary tickets to EMU Theatre? Expand dropdown

    Tickets can now be ordered online! The Special Emeritus Password to obtain complimentary tickets is EFcomps. Here are the ordering instructions:
    Go to https://emich.ludus.com and select the EMU Theatre performance you would like to attend.
    Enter the Special Password and click Apply.
    Select your seat/s, and in the drop-down menu in Step 2 select the $0 Staff/Faculty (2 per patron) for each ticket.
    Enter your name and email and click Add to Cart.
    Review everything and finalize your order by clicking Place Your Order.
    You will be given the option to print tickets yourself using 8.5” x 11” sheets of paper, receive them digitally for showing on a mobile device, or pick them up at Will Call at the performance.
     
    YOU AN STILL OBTAIN TICKETS IN ADVANCE AT THE THEATER BOX OFFICE
    The ticket office in Judy Sturgis Hill Building is open 1-5, M-F and 90 minutes before showtime. The Ticket Office phone number is 734.487.2282. You can pick up tickets for theater performances and other main campus events such as music and dance performances at this box office. To receive complimentary tickets (2 tickets per Emeritus member) you will need to show your Emeritus ID or give the password (EFcomps ).
     
    Please note that tickets for main campus events CAN NO LONGER be purchased at the Convocation Center box office.
     

  • What is the process for auditing courses? Expand dropdown

    Process for Auditing Courses

    1. If the emeritus faculty member wants credit for the course and for it to appear on the transcript, they would have to be admitted and register for the course.

    • a. Regular admission procedures, tuition/fees, registration requirements apply, etc. 
    • b. Normal grading occurs, unless the emeritus faculty member chooses pass/fail or audit options. 

    2. If the emeritus faculty member wants to attend for personal enrichment, they need to contact the instructor and ask permission to audit the course.  If the instructor approves of the person auditing the course, the instructor needs to email the University Registrar with

    • a. emeritus faculty member's name and EID
    • b. course prefix and number with section CRN
    • c. verification that they approve the person to sit in on the course

    If the course has an online component, the University Registrar will communicate with e-Learning to approve the emeritus faculty being added to the course shell.

    If the course has an on campus component, the faculty must ensure the assigned room has space for the emeritus faculty

     

  • I need some clarification on how to submit for 2022 HSA Bank Medigap reimbursements. What advice is offered?  Expand dropdown

    MEDIGAP REIMBURSEMENTS SUGGESTIONS

    The following is advice offered by two different members, one with a United Health Care Medigap policy and another with a Blue Cross Medigap policy.

    AARP/UNITED HEALTH CARE PLANS

    1.      Go to https://www.medicare.uhc.com/aarp

    2.     Sign In

    3.     In the upper right hand corner pull down, click Premium Payments.

    4.     Click Supplemental or Prescription payments.

    5.     Click on Payment and Billing History

    6.     Print or Download Excel file.

    7.     Pdf the document or Excel file and upload to HSA Bank.

    BLUE CROSS AND OTHER SUPPLEMENTAL PLANS

    If you get a monthly bill and pay by check or credit card, submit an image of the bill and of your check or the named line item from your credit card statement showing the payment. Please make sure that the image of the bill shows the name of the insurance company, your name, the date and the premium amount.   The name of the bank should show on the credit card statement with the named line item and date of the payment.  

    If you engage in automatic payment of the premium from your checking or credit card account, submit an image of the letter which indicates what your premium will be for the coming year and an image of the named line item from your checking account or credit card account showing the payment.  

    Frequently the premium amount switches in April.  Make sure to use the letter which is applicable for the time period for which you are asking medigap reimbursement.  If you did not save the letter, call for a copy.  The phone number is 1-800-662-6667, TTY users call 711.  

    Please make sure the letter shows your name, the insurance company, the time of applicability and the premium.  For the checking account or credit card account, please make sure the image shows the name of the bank and the named line item of the payment and date.

  • I am retiring from my position with Eastern Michigan University. What is the application process to receive emeritus status as a Faculty, Lecturer or Staff member? Expand dropdown

    Faculty, Lecturers and Staff members with a minimum of 15 years of service to EMU can be recommended for emeritus status upon retirement. Download the applicable emeritus recommendation application.

  • I haven’t logged into my.emich email account for a long time and I have forgotten (or need to change) my password. Expand dropdown

    First of all, your my.emich username is now referred to as your NetID.

  • Can Emeritus staff and faculty access and download current software packages for our personal computers through EMU? Expand dropdown

    Yes! Emeritus faculty are eligible for our Microsoft Office campus agreement. Microsoft Office software can be accessed through an online portal. This site requires people to login using their full EMU email address as the username and their NetID password.

    Emeritus faculty are also eligible for the discounted, personal-use software available to EMU students and employees. This site also requires a login using NetID and password.

    Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions with a monthly fee are available directly through Adobe at an educational discount. This is a general offer from Adobe based on using your edu based email account to sign up.

  • What is one piece of advice would you give to a recent retiree? Expand dropdown

    Your retirement is a good time to set up, or review, your legal documents with a lawyer to ensure they are current and reflect your wishes. You can set up a living trust, will and HIPAA (access to your medical information) as one package.
    Before meeting with your lawyer, give some thought to what you want your legal documents to address and prepare a list of the questions and concerns to discuss.
