Vaccination Requirements for Student Housing Residents

For fall 2022, EMU will require all students who live in all University housing, including apartments, to be up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccines and to report their vaccination status to the University. You are “up-to-date” with your COVID-19 vaccines when you have received all doses in the primary vaccination series and all boosters for which you are eligible. To learn more about being up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines, you may review these guidelines or contact EMU Telehealth. The deadline for being up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines and reporting your vaccination information to the University is August 1, 2022.

Reporting your vaccination status

All on-campus housing residents must report their COVID-19 status (including a booster shot) to the University's secure and confidential database no later than August 1, 2022.

Opportunities to receive the COVID-19 vaccine

COVID-19 vaccines are safe, free, and effective at protecting people from getting seriously ill or being hospitalized — especially people who are boosted.

There are many opportunities to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and/or booster shot, including pop-up clinics on EMU's campus during the school year and Campus Medical Pharmacy located on EMU's campus. You may learn more about where to obtain a free COVID-19 vaccine by visiting the Get a Vaccine webpage.

Medical or religious accommodations

Students who live in University student housing and need to request an accommodation from vaccination due to medical reasons or a sincerely-held religious belief may do so here beginning June 1, 2022. The deadline for requesting such an accommodation is July 15, 2022. Requests for accommodation must be completed by the student requesting the accommodation.

If you lived in on-campus housing at any time during the 2021-2022 school year and you received an accommodation from vaccination based on medical necessity or sincerely-held religious belief, your accommodation remains valid and you do not need to submit a new request.

COVID testing upon move-in

Housing residents may be required to submit proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test shortly before they move into University housing in August and upon return to campus in January. Residential housing students will receive instructions about this requirement in their EMU email account. Please email [email protected] if you have questions.
