Student Support & University Partnerships
EMU Writing Center tutors host bi-monthly appointments inside the prison for our CiP students. Students seek help with both academic assignments and personal projects. These tutors provide the same access and services as they do to main campus students.
The CiP Director serves as the official Academic Advisor for CiP students. However, staff members work closely with Academic Advising officials to ensure that students complete all necessary requirements. CiP students are provided full access to their academic reports twice per semester and can request advising appointments at any time.
CiP students are required to fill out an annual FAFSA form to determine the Pell Grant eligibility. CiP works closesly with the Office of Financial Aid to support students through this process and to better understand their financial standing and options.
Students requiring academic accommodations work with their instructors and the DRC to come up with a plan that is conducive to both the needs of their course and are in line with MDOC policy.
