Knowledge and Adventure Await

Encourage your kids to step out and explore a new interest or potential career in a fun and relaxed environment at Eastern Michigan University. EMU faculty, staff and students will be on hand to ignite imaginations and open up a variety of topics from intellectual pursuits to athletic achievement. Available camps will be listed below as they are open for registration.

  • Partnership Camps - These camps are partnership camps in which an external entity such as Lincoln Consolidated Schools, American Promise or Girls on the Run employ [email protected] in designing, developing and implementing a high-quality camp. These camps can be week-long residential or month-long non-residential programs.
  • Public Camps -Public camps are open enrollment camps put on in collaboration with the Rec/IM, EMU esports, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, and the Ann Arbor YMCA to name a few. These camps are promoted and all are welcome to register!

  • Enrichment Summer Camps 2020

    Green Week 

    Explore the natural world, make new friends and become a hero for our planet all while having a blast! During this three-day camp we will spend time with some of natures most fascinating animals, led by EMU Zoology students.

    • Dates and Times: June 8 thru 10 from 2-3:30 p.m.
    • Audience: Ages 6-10
    • Online Format: Google Classroom and Zoom
    • Cost: $35 per student


    Art Week 

    Time to unleash your inner artist! Working  alongside EMU art students, you will spend this camp learning the basics of visual art, learning new techniques, exploring new art technology, all while developing your own personal style.

    • Dates and Times: June 22, 24, 26 from 2:30-4 p.m.
    • Audience: Ages 11-14    
    • Online Format: Google Classroom and Zoom
    • Cost: $40 per student


    Theatre Week

    Add a little drama to your summer with this all-online theatre camp! Campers will learn all the ins and outs of acting, from audition techniques and etiquette to warmups and monologues, to Shakespeare!

    • Dates and Times: July 6 thru 9 from 1 -2:30 p.m.
    • Audience: HS Students
    • Online Format: Google Classroom and Zoom
    • Cost: $40 per student



    Take on the new technological frontier with this crash course in coding and robotics! Working alongside EMU students, campers will spend this camp learning the basics of coding and how to apply those skills in the world of robotics and beyond!

    • Dates and Times: July 13, 15, 17 from 2-4 p.m.
    • Audience: Ages 12-18
    • Online Format: Google Classroom and Zoom
    • Cost : $45.00 per student


    American Sign Language

    During this three-day camp, students will learn the basics of ASL, beginning with the alphabet and ending with phrases and conversation.  Don't miss this great opportunity to expand your mind and make new friends all while learning a new language.

    • Dates and Times: July 20-22 from 2-3 p.m.
    • Audience: Ages 12-18

  • Esports Summer Camps 2020

    Gamer Girls Getting It Done: In partnership with EMU esports, Gen.G esports and [email protected]

    The Gamer Girl Summer Camp is a three-day camp, running in conjunction with EMU's esports camp, focused on women engaging with the future of women in gaming. Over the three days, middle and high school campers will have the opportunity to directly integrate with popular Content Creators, women executives in gaming, and some of the top Fortnite pro-gamers in the world: Team Bumble.

    • Audience: Middle and High School Girls
    • Dates: June 15-17, July 8-10 or August 10-12, 2020 (7-8:30 p.m.)
    • Online Format: Zoom and Discord
    • Cost: $99 per student


    Overwatch (Gaming)

    Focus on individual role skills and how to more effectively play a position, with the final day focusing on how to play more as a team in a “scrimmage” environment. 

    • Audience: Ages 11-17
    • Dates: June 29, 30, July 1 and 2, 2020 (6-8 p.m.)
    • Online Format: Google Classroom, Discord, Zoom
    • Cost: $105 per student


    League of Legends (Gaming)

    Focus on learning how to play different positions in a team and will be instructed on team play and how to coordinate more effectively with teammates.

    • Audience: Ages 11-17
    • Dates: July 27, 28, 29 and 30, 2020 (6-8 p.m.)
    • Online Format: Google Classroom, Discord and Zoom
    • Cost: $105 per student


    Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Camp

    EMU Esports is hosting a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate virtual camp spanning four (4) days from the 3rd-6th of August. Students will be instructed on various aspects of the competitive side of Smash. From how a normal match proceeds, what the competitive rule set is, and more! Students will also be familiarized with common terminology for smash. Players will be instructed on character archetypes, such as zoners, glass cannons, bruisers/heavies, grapplers, and so on. On the 3rd day, students will be entered into a tournament hosted by EMU where students will have the opportunity to play against current EMU students in a Double Elimination bracket. This tournament will be streamed on the EMU Smash Club’s twitch channel for family and friends to watch and cheer on their student. The final day will be a review of the tournament, and feature a traditional “VOD Review” by top players at EMU where they will talk to the class and give feedback based on their performance in the tournament.

    • Dates: August 3, 4, 5 and 6, 2020 (6–8 p.m.)
    • Online Format: Google Classroom, Discord, Zoom
    • Cost: $105 per student


    Gaming Industry Introduction Camp (SAG/esports)

    Campers will be given hands-on experience in game design and different tools used to create video games in the 21st century.

    • Audience: Ages 14-17
    • Dates: July 20 thru 24, 2020 (5-8:30 p.m.)
    • Online Format: Google Classroom, Discord and Zoom
    • Cost: $160 per student


  • Optimize Virtual Camp 2020

    • Audience: Middle and High School Students
    • Dates: June 15, 17, 19 22, 24 and 26, 2020 from noon to 1  p.m.
    • Online Format: Zoom and Google Classroom
    • Cost: $30 per student


     What is Optimize:

    Optimize Eastern is a social innovation, student-led organization that offers workshops, mentorship, and funding for students to create self-directed projects that make a positive impact in the community. We cultivate a supportive community to help everyone we meet ask themselves, “Why not me?”. 

    By the end of Optimize Visioning Camps students will understand how to:

    • Identify and articulate social challenges that they care about
    • Define social innovations that they could make actionable through Design Thinking
    • Understand how visioning works and write their own vision for their life and community
    • Create a shared vision with a small group
    • Explain what a stakeholder is and how to connect with them
    • Communicate their values and achieve their goals

  • The 3Cs to Developing Your Personal Brand Camp 2020

    • Audience: High School Students (Ages 15-18 years old)
    • Dates: June 15 to 19, 2020 at 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day
    • Format: Online (Adobe Connect and Canvas)
    • Cost: $99 per student

    The 3Cs to Developing Your Personal Brand is geared toward high school students, ages 15 to 18 years old.  In the course, students will learn to create a personal brand, update social media profiles, increase your clarity in business writing skills, through professional email messages, resume, and writing, increase confidence in networking skills, nonverbal business communication skills in interviewing and more.


  • Fun Camp

    FUN CAMP is offered in partnership with EMU Rec/IM

    The Rec/IM Department at EMU and [email protected] are offering an exciting opportunity for your children to participate in a multi-faceted day camp designed to promote year-round learning, friendship, and fun!

    Throughout the course of this 5-week camp, campers will work and play alongside their peers, enjoying the best that EMU has to offer. Guided by EMU student teachers and field professionals, campers will develop new skills such as coding or gardening while embarking on exciting adventures like a trip to EMU’s Planetarium, a robot relay race, or a campus-wide scavenger hunt! Campers will leave this camp more engaged with the world around them, confident, passionate about learning, and ready to take on the school year.

    This camp is designed for children ages 7 (or entering 2nd grade in the fall) through 12 (at the time of registration).

  • Camp Girls on the Run 2021

    Camp Girls on the Run is offered in partnership with Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan... Due to COVID-19, this camp has been postponed to 2021.  

    Camp GOTR combines the best of Girls on the Run with all the fun of summer camp! During each week-long session, rising 3rd through 5th-grade girls will build friendships in a fun and inclusive setting that includes interactive games, being physically active and expressing their own creativity through art and storytelling. Led by caring and qualified Girls on the Run coaches, field professionals, and EMU student teachers, Camp GOTR provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for girls to develop self-confidence, learn life skills they can use now and as they grow, and have fun with friends.

  • SAT Summer Institute 2020

    Let Eastern Michigan University's SAT test-preparation program help you prepare for this important test! SAT Blitz classes, offered during the academic year, are strategically scheduled for the weeks leading up to the most popular SAT test dates. Classes are scheduled to allow time to practice new skills between sessions. Our multi-week course format allows abundant opportunities for learning and for interacting with our expert instructors. Classes include 16 hours of instruction, the official preparation guide including practice tests from The College Board, a course workbook, and access to our online resources—class recordings, pre-recorded class modules, an instructor-monitored question forum, and online office hours. The SAT Blitz classes are offered in live-online format.

    EMU Sports Camps

    Eastern Michigan University annually sponsors summer youth camps in multiple sports. All EMU Camps and Clinics are open to any and all entrants who meet the appropriate age, gender, or grade requirement for the specific camp or clinic.
