Knowledge and Adventure Await

Encourage your kids to step out and explore a new interest or potential career in a fun and relaxed environment at Eastern Michigan University. EMU faculty, staff and students will be on hand to ignite imaginations and open up a variety of topics from intellectual pursuits to athletic achievement. Available camps will be listed below as they are open for registration.

[email protected] produces camps in two ways:

  • Partnership Camps - These camps are partnership camps in which an external entity such as Wayne Westland Schools, Jalen Rose Academy or Girls in Engineering employ [email protected] in designing, developing and implementing a high-quality camp. These camps can be week-long residential or month-long non-residential programs.
  • Open Enrollment (Community) Camps -Community camps are open enrollment camps put on in collaboration with the REC/IM, EMU esports, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, and the Ann Arbor YMCA to name a few. These camps are promoted and all are welcome to register!

  • Girls in Engineering Academy Residential Camp

    Eastern Michigan University and [email protected] reopened their doors to host the Girls in Engineering Academy (GEA) Residential Camp. This camp will be in person, 57 - 7th and 9th-grade girls have had an on-hand experience in taking the next steps toward building a career in STEM and engineering.   • Flights of Imagination Summer Camp 2023

    The Flights of Imagination Summer 2023

    Flights of Imagination 2023 is a program provided by the Children's Institute at Eastern Michigan University. The summer program at EMU Children's Institute is a theme-oriented, play-based program utilizing the Creative Curriculum. The program will reflect the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) grade level expectations for children going into Kindergarten and First Grade. Our program is supervised by professional teachers from the Institute. Experienced and energetic students at Eastern Michigan University oversee the activities. The program is divided into ten sessions with exciting activities every day. You have the option of enrolling your child in as few as one weekly session or as many as ten weekly sessions.

    All 2023 camps will be hosted on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.

    ELEMENTARY (Incoming grades 3-6)

    July 24-28, Monday - Friday, 9am to 12pm

    $110 for the first student, $100 for siblings

    MIDDLE SCHOOL (Incoming grades 6-9)

    July 24-28, Monday - Friday, 9am - 2pm

    $190 for the first student, $180 for sibilings

    HIGH SCHOOL (Incoming grades - recent 2023 graduate)

    July 17 - 21, Monday - Friday, 9am - 2pm

    $190 for the first student, $180 for siblings

  • Computing Programs for Girls 2023

    Bits & Bytes

    Summer Computing Camp for Middle School Girls

    June 26th - 30th, 2023 @ EMU

    Bits and Bytes is an all-day, week-long, summer computing camp for middle school girls. It introduces computing and technology from theoretical concepts to applied projects. Coding is introduced through educational software and robots with the support of student mentors. The camp concludes with a hackathon and a career discovery event. It is staffed by the Women in Computer Science (WICS) club members at Eastern Michigan University and led by a faculty member.

    This camp is free of cost.  Camp Registration Fee is $25

    Gigabytes (New!)

    Summer Computing Program for High School Girls

    July 17th - 21st, 2023 @ EMU

    Gigabytes is an all-day, week-long, summer computing program for high school girls. It introduces computing and technology through robot-based programming. Coding is introduced through educational robots with the support of student mentors. The program concludes with a hackathon and a career discovery event. It is staffed by the Women in Computer Science (WICS) club members at Eastern Michigan University and led by a faculty member.

    This camp is free of cost.  Camp Registration Fee is $25

  • Open Enrollment Community Camps 

    NEW! This year we will be offering a few open enrollment camps for K-12 children in the following areas: Mathematics and Drama. 

    Note: Wayne Westland students should register for the Math camps at WW Schools.  
     

    Mathematics & More Camps

    K-2 Math Camp, June 19, 20, 21 | 9 AM - 12 PM   

    During this 3-day camp students will improve their math skills while having a blast! Through detective, dinosaur and beach themes, students will explore the ways in which math helps us understand our world and make it better. Camp will be held at EMU, McKenny Hall.   Cost: $75.00

    3-5 Math Camp,  June 19, 20, 21 | 9 AM - 12 PM

    During this 3-day camp students will improve their math skills while making fun crafts, playing games, and even exploring potential   future careers! From jamming out to your favorite song to charting the stars, students will leave this camp excited about the math that shapes our daily lives. Camp will be held at EMU McKenny Hall.   Cost: $75.00

    6-8 Math Camp,  June 26 -  29 | 9 AM -12 PM

    Spend a week mastering important math skills while learning about robotics, social innovation, music production, and more! Packed with crafts, games, and visits with special guests, this week will leave students excited about exploring math! EMU Tour and lunch on June 29th! Camp will be held at EMU McKenny Hall.   Cost: $100.00

    HS Math Camp,  June 26 - 29 | 9 AM - 12 PM

    Spend a week mastering important math skills while learning about robotics, social innovation, music production, and more! Students will work alongside EMU student teachers to explore potential math-centered careers and academic pathways and even get a head start on preparing for the SAT/ACT. EMU admission tour and lunch on June 29th! Camp will be held at EMU McKenny Hall.  Cost: $100.00

    Drama Camps

    Drama Explorers, June 19 - 23, 2023 | 9am - 12pm (AM Session)  (Grades K-2, starting in the Fall 2023)

       *Families are invited to a class sharing at 11:30a on 6/23

    Drama Explorers, June 19 - 23, 2023 | 1pm - 4pm  (PM Session) (Grades K-2, starting in the Fall 2023)

       *Families are invited to a class sharing at 3:30p on 6/23

    In Drama Explorers, our youngest artists will take a drama journey through stories and creative movement. Our activities will have your young artists thinking outside the box, flexing their imaginations, working as a team, and exploring new worlds! Young Artists should pack a peanut and treenut free snack, as well as a water bottle labeled with their name for camp each day. On Friday, June 23rd, caregivers and families are invited to class sharing where you will see a sneak peek into our classroom adventures. Cost: $100.00

    Drama Builders, June 26 - 30, 2023 | 9am - 3pm (Grades 3-4)

       *Families are invited to a performance at 2pm on 6/30

    Drama Builders, July 10 - 14, 2023 | 9am - 3pm (Grades 5-6)

       *Families are invited to a performance at 2pm on 7/14

    In Drama Builders, young artists grades 3-6 (in the fall of 2023) will craft their own production. Working as a team, they will explore as designers, actors, writers, and technicians. Our activities focus on creative and collaborative experimentation, learning story and theatre principles, and making bold and brave choices. Young Artists should pack a peanut and treenut free lunch, as well as a water bottle labeled with their name for camp each day. Cost: $150.00

    EMU Sports Camps

    Eastern Michigan University annually sponsors summer youth camps in multiple sports. All EMU Camps and Clinics are open to any and all entrants who meet the appropriate age, gender, or grade requirement for the specific camp or clinic.
