Industrial Robot Safety and Risk Assessment

Description

This course covers industrial robots, robot systems and related OSHA and Robotic Industries Association (RIA) Standards. Guidance is provided on the hazards associated with industrial robots and robot systems and the elements of effective robot system safety.

Course topics include types and classifications of industrial robots, robot components, programming, hazard recognition and control including control of hazardous energy sources (lockout/tagout), and risk assessments. Program highlights include a risk assessment practical exercise including scenario-based risk assessments.

Objectives

Upon successful course completion, participants will be able to recognize the types and classifications of industrial robots, explain common robot components, describe basic elements of robot programming, identify common robot and robot system hazards, explain investigation guidelines for evaluating robot and robot system hazards, and complete a robotic risk assessment.
