holocaust seminar 2016 Advanced Teacher Seminar

Teaching the Holocaust Through Film

The Holocaust Memorial Center and Eastern Michigan University   are working together to provide Michigan educators with instructional materials to teach about genocide and the Holocaust.

Professors Marty Shichtman and John Staunton of the Department of English Language and Literature will join with scholars from UM, MSU, and GVSU for an intensive seminar in Holocaust education from August 1 -5, on site at the Holocaust Memorial Center Zekelman Family Campus in Farmington Hills.

Now that the Michigan legislature has passed House Bill 4493, requiring Holocaust and genocide education in schools, our intent with this summer’s seminar, Teaching the Holocaust Through Film, is to help teachers familiar with the issues of genocide and the Holocaust become leaders in their schools and their districts in both creating and implementing this new curriculum.
